How to read e-mails from more than one e-mail address from one place (including different e-mail accounts, like gmail, yahoo, etc) and send e-mail messages from one place appearing to be sent from any of those e-mails

Because i have many non-romanian-speaking visitors, i translated the post below from romanian to english, so here goes…:

How to read e-mails from more than one e-mail address from one place (including different e-mail accounts, like gmail, yahoo, etc) and send e-mail messages from one place appearing to be sent from any of those e-mails:

You’ll be needing a gmail.com account. Then go to Settings, Accounts and if you want to add a gmail account, at the first thing in the list, click on “Add another email address”. If the other e-mail account is on… let’s say: yahoo, you’ll have to look a little lower at  “Get mail from other accounts:” and click “Add another mail account” then just follow the steps there (next, bla bla). If the e-mail address is not on gmail, you may want to select “Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server” to keep a copy of your e-mails on the original server where they came.  The e-mails will be marked as read, even though they are on yahoo for instance. You can add a Label, selecting “Label incoming messages:”.

To be able to reply from the e-mail address where the e-mail message arrived, not the default one, in the same place look under “When I receive a message sent to one of my addresses:” and select Reply from the same address the message was sent to”.

To organize e-mail messages so you know which from where it came from, you can make Labels and Filters:   Settings > Labels and click “Create a new label” by introducing a label, for instance: my_yahoo_email_address@yahoo.com, and then in the upper-middle part of the screen, next to “Search the Web” there is an option: “Create a filter” on which you’ll have to click. Then, in the “To:” field enter the other e-mail address for which you are making the filter for (my_yahoo_email_address@yahoo.com), click next, then “Apply the label:” and choose the label you want (my_yahoo_email_address@yahoo.com for example). To apply the filter to the e-mail messages already received from that e-mail address, you can also check “Also apply filter to X conversations below.” and then all you have to do is click the “Create filter” button.

Now the labels are listed in the left side of the screen. You may choose colors for each of them….
