Easy Way To Backup Gmail: Thunderbird

A few days ago, a glitch in the Gmail system resulted in resetting some Gmail accounts (to the point that those users even got the welcome message again). Even though this was fixed later on, it would be a good idea to back up your Gmail emails on your hard drive so in case something goes wrong, you can easily access any old email.

Note: using the exact instructions in the post linked above, Thunderbird will not delete your Gmail emails and will not mark them as read so it acts exactly as a backup, without interfering with your actual emails.
